Canberra Brown Owls - July Meet Up

Hey Brown Owls!

Gosh it's July already (only one more month of winter to go, YAY!!) and once again all the kids are back at school.  So do you remember back in February we made little needle books to get ourselves organised?  Well, now it's time to add the next  perfect little addition to your craft kit.  Let's make scissor keepers/pouches.  A few ideas you can sew without a machine (of course, if you need to bring along a sewing machine - no problem!)

Of course, feel free to bring along some of your projects - bring along your UFOs, new projects, old projects or even something new.

Canberra Brown Owls - May 2018

Hey Brown Owls!

So Craft Alive came to Canberra this month and it was just fabulous!  And what I love about Craft Alive is their featured artists and this month we were awed by the wonderful Amy Kallissa and Mandy from Sew Quirky.

So let's be inspired by Amy Kallissa's gorgeous work this month (and we will be inspired by Sew Quirky later this year).  Click on their links for even more info!

Anyways, Amy Kallissa had on display gorgeous felt embroidered embellishments, from her faces to beautifully stitched flower motifs:

All you need is a small sheet of wool felt (1mm), your favourite colours of embroidery cottons, needle, embroidery hoop and your imagination.

Looking for something a little bit easier (with instructions and pattern?) these flowers are just gorgeous.

(Note: See https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/571069328/felt-poppies-tutorial-and-poppy for the paid pattern for these poppies)

Or for something completely different to the flowers but just as colourful and gorgeous, try an embroidered mandela.  Click on the link below for the pattern and tutorial.
