Canberra Brown Owls - May 2016

So here we are again.  I find myself thinking Brown Owls is only once a month and it's just not enough, yet here I am wondering where has the last month gone!  Hopefully you feel the same way too about Brown Owls!

So I'm thinking we are only a small bunch (or should I say parliament) of owls this Saturday, so feeling cold with this weather we're having I went searching on my Entertainment app and found Oliver Brown in Dickson.  Sounds like the perfect place for a Autumn/Winter crafternoon!

So no set project this Saturday.  Thought it would be the perfect chance to catch up on some of your projects from previous months or something new you just wanted to try.  Although if you need inspiration - try these xx

August meeting: BYO craft

Hi there Canberra Owls!
Just a quick reminder that this coming Saturday 24 August is the 4th Saturday of the month, which means it is time for our August get together! We'll be meeting from 2pm, at the Downer Community Centre!

This month we'll be having a BYO meet again - this means you should bring along whatever you're working on at the moment and join us for a cuppa and some afternoon tea.

I'll be bringing my cross stitch, and am happy to demonstrate to anyone who is interested in seeing how this cute craft works.

As always we are likely to have a couple of owls along who go alright with knitting needles and crochet hooks, so if you're working on something and have a question, or would like a quick refresher after our begginners workshops a few months ago you might just find yourself in luck.

Don't forget to bring $5 for room hire and a plate to share for arvo tea if you'd like.

Please RSVP in the comments if you're coming along so that we know how many owls to expect =)

Hope to see you there!

May meeting :: knitting!

Hi Canberra owls!
May is nearly over, which means it is time for our next get together!!

The cooler weather, and maybe the yarn fumes from the Old Bus Depot Market Celebration of Wool day yesterday, has us obsessed with all things wooly - so this month we'll be offering a learn to knit workshop!

If you'd like to join in all you need to do is let us know in the comments, and bring along your own knitting needles and wool. For beginners about size 4mm needles, and a nice smooth (not fuzzy) 8ply (sometimes called DK) in a colour other than black is best - but if you have something else at home already that will be fine too. If you don't have any supplies but want to try it out just let us know and we'll try to arrange for extras.

Of course, if knitting isn't your thing that's ok too! Just bring along whatever you happen to be working on and join us for a chat and a cup of tea!

We will be meeting on Saturday May 25, 2pm at the Downer Community Centre

Please also remember to bring $5 for room hire, and something to share for arvo tea if you would like!

It would be wonderful if you could RSVP in the comments below so that we know how many owls to expect - dont forget to tell us if you'd like us to bring spare needles/wool!

Please let us know if you have any questions!
